Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2022 model year BRZ vehicles.

The vehicles included in this recall may be equipped with rear combination lamp assemblies where the rear turn signals may become temporarily inoperative. If the rear turn signals become inoperative, other road users may not realize that the rear turn signal or the rear hazard lights have been activated, increasing the risk of a crash.

Q: What should I do?
A: Once you receive the follow up letter stating that parts are available, please contact your Subaru retailer to schedule an appointment for this repair. If you find that the turn signal indicator light is blinking rapidly, please have your vehicle inspected by your Subaru retailer.

Q: What will Subaru do?
A: Subaru is in the process of acquiring the parts to perform this repair and expects to have a sufficient supply available in December. Once parts are available, Subaru will send you a follow up letter, and will replace both rear combination lamp assemblies at no cost to you.

Q: What will be done to the vehicle?
A: For all affected vehicles, Subaru retailers will replace both rear combination lamp assemblies with assemblies containing an improved circuit when parts are available, at no cost to you.

Q: What Subaru models are involved?
A: Certain 2022 model year BRZ vehicles.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment?
A: Yes. Once you receive the follow up letter stating that parts are available, please contact your servicing Subaru retailer to set up an appointment to ensure that the retailer can allocate a time slot to best accommodate you.

Q: How much will this safety recall repair cost?
A: This repair will be performed free of charge at any authorized Subaru retailer.

Q: Do I have to return to the retailer where I bought the car?
A: Any authorized Subaru retailer will be able to perform this safety recall repair free of charge for you.

Q: Can I have this safety recall repair performed at an independent repair facility?
A: Only an authorized Subaru retailer can perform this safety recall repair free of charge for you.

Q: If I live in Canada do I have to return to the United States to have this performed?
A: Any authorized Subaru dealership in either the United States or Canada is capable of performing this safety recall repair.
